Message from the 2009 NRC Officers

Posted December 29, 2009 at 1:45 PM

The Neighborhood Representative Council ("NRC)" sends wishes for good health and the best of this holiday season to you and your family. Thank you for your past support.

We hope that you will continue and even increase your support for the Brandermill community in the coming year.

The NRC is currently filling board positions for 2010, and there are still a couple of officer positions unfilled. We are also adding committees and need people to chair them. It is also our goal to find representatives for neighborhoods who have been without representation in the past year.

If you are already an NRC representative, we strongly encourage you to consider volunteering for one of the board positions. If you have not previously been involved with the NRC but would like to volunteer for a committee or to be a neighborhood representative, please call Membership chair Beverly Bell (716-1714), NRC chair Frances Hillman (744-3646) or NRC Nominating Committee chair Jane Zander (320-2808).

This is an important time for Brandermill. During 2009, the NRC sponsored the "Meet the Candidate Night" to inform Brandermill residents about the candidates for the BCA Board. The NRC also brought you presentations introducing the new sports facility "Sports Quest" and the changes at the Brandermill Country Club. We also engaged County representatives to explain the proposed changes on roads impacting Brandermill. These are just some of the major issues facing Brandermill in the coming year, not to mention the retention of home values during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Some of the things that the 2009 NRC officers would like to offer to the community in the coming year is to fulfill its historical role of presenting a forum for residents when new issues come up. We would also like to have neighborhood representatives who will serve as liaison to the Master Plan Oversight Committee, work with the NRC Communications Committee to improve our web presence and facilitate surveys, and coordinate with the BCA office the welcoming of new residents to our community.

One of the goals for the NRC next year is to do a better job of outreach and to bring our community together in a positive way. We need your help to do this. Please call Jane Zander (320-2808), Bev Bell (716-1714) or Frances Hillman (744-3646) for more information on how you can help.

We hope to see you at our meeting on January 19, 2010, 7:00 p.m., Brandermill Woods. At the meeting, we will hold elections for 2010 NRC officers and have a presentation/workshop on preparing BCA project grants for neighborhood improvements. Please come and help us to help you.
